3 food myths

If we've heard it once, we've heard it a million times: pasta makes you fat, fruit at night can upset your stomach, tea burns fat and much more. But what's the truth behind these and other myths? Are we wrong? We unravel false myths about eating habits.

1. Pasta makes you gain weight: pasta has carbohydrates that are an essential source of energy. Whole-wheat pasta also has dietary fibre and more vitamins and minerals. They are a healthy, necessary food… EVEN FOR DINNER! Yes, you read correctly, eating pasta for dinner isn't fattening. Just be careful with quantities and sauces!
2. Prohibited fruits: banana, avocado, grapes, figs, etc. are fattening especially if you eat them after a certain hour or after a meal. FALSE. Fruit should be part of your daily diet, with at least 3 servings per day at any time. The body doesn't stop working after a certain hour and foods aren't more fattening depending on the order in which you eat them.
3. "Diet" foods help you lose weight: FALSE. Diet foods, according to European regulations, have at least 30% fewer calories but that doesn't mean we can eat as much as we want or that they help us lose weight. It just means that they have fewer calories if we eat the same amount as we would of a non-diet version.
