Work and healthy snacks

Work and healthy snacks

This topic is very interesting because it's true that, whether you work in an office or running around, the easiest thing to do when you get busy is to grab whatever's closest at hand and pop it in your mouth.

It's no surprise that we think it's impossible to stop working just to eat some fruit or yoghurt, but it's easy to unwrap some sweets and eat them…

So you don't forget your diet and have unhealthy thoughts, which lead you to eat the first thing you grab, we have some tips that will help you snack between meals in a more healthy way, without gaining any weight or sacrificing your health.

The word snacks might lead you to think of those typical products on the market, processed and packed with empty calories, sugars and saturated fats.

The most typical, which we can't fail to mention, is fruit or yoghurt. You can cut up fruit before you leave the house and put it in a small container so it is ready to eat when you're feeling peckish or choose fruit that can be peeled easily and quickly, like bananas or tangerines.

But if that isn't enough to satiate you, there are other options for healthy snacks:

  • Apple slices, walnuts and yoghurt mixed ahead of time and put in a small container so it is ready to eat.
  • Small sandwich with ham or tuna, tomato and lettuce + 7 or 8 walnuts or almonds, so you just have to unwrap and chew.
  • Wholegrain toast with cream cheese and ham + herbal tea; now there are even portable, non-spill mugs for your drinks and you can choose the flavour you like best from your pantry. If you can't make toast, you can always just take a sandwich.
  • If you feel like something sweet, you can choose cereal bars or homemade cereal bars with fruit. There are many recipes online and in addition to getting more for your money, they're healthier thanks to their cereals, dried fruit, nuts, pure cacao, etc. However, even though they are homemade you have to be careful with the amount of sugar in them.
  • And for vegetarians, nothing better than a bit of hummus with breadsticks or a sandwich with hummus, avocado, tomato slices and grated carrots. Both filling and nutritional.

These are just some tips and ideas we have for you, but remember that there is always a healthy option for snacking between meals. Don't let yourself be tempted by the ease of industrial pastries, make sure you have healthy snacks at work.
