Superfoods

Superfoods are unprocessed items based on grains, plants, algae, seeds, berries, fruit, vegetables, etc.

They don't contain pesticides, chemical substances, artificial colours, flavour enhancers, preservatives or any artificial additives. They are foods rich in nutrients like fibre, Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants, etc. And why eat superfoods? Because they are the perfect, natural way to replenish the nutrients you need. This is the argument used to promote sales of superfoods.

However, although the nutritional power of these products is unquestionable and their nutritional value is high (making it important to be aware of them) there is no such thing as a miracle food that will give us all the nutrients we need.

"It is a question of healthy food, not superfoods." A healthy, balanced diet, based on Mediterranean eating habits, can help you get the nutrients you need or, for example, foods that are essential in our diet, such as extra-virgin olive oil, fruit, legumes, nuts, etc.

In conclusion, superfoods are not a cure nor are they a treatment for any illness. What is important is to follow a healthy, balanced diet with the right quantity and combination of foods.
