Is Ramen healthy?

Ramen has become a really popular oriental dish in recent years but… How healthy is it?

No one can deny that all things oriental are making an increasingly large presence in our modern world, which includes exotic gastronomy. Today, one of the most emblematic dishes of Japan, the ramen, has captured our taste buds.

Of Chinese origin, it is a bowl of wheat noodles submerged in a tasty broth, accompanied by various vegetables that may or may not contain fish or meat. A perfect dish for both vegetarians and nonvegetarians alike. Depending on the ingredients that make up the base of your broth, the ramen takes on different names.

Thus, the Tonkotsu is a ramen whose broth is based on  the cooking of pork bones. Shio, much lighter consists of a base made from miso or chicken bones, in which the broth consists mostly of vegetables. These are examples of the most popular ramen dishes.

There is no established norm for this dish, you can add whatever ingredients you want, so there are many varieties depending on regions and restaurants, etc. In general, this dish has a high nutritional value. On the other hand, ramen is also a dish prone to being turned into a “fast food” , diluting it's nutritional properties.

Our recommendation in this case is twofold: on one hand, that you try to consume ramen with the nutritional properties still intact. On the other hand, that you consume it in moderation because it is rather salty and if it contains nori seaweed, rich in iodine, this is something that should be eaten with moderation.

All in all, it is a very nutritious dish. Itadakimasu!! :)
