Foods that make you feel bloated

There are foods that we eat throughout the day and we are not aware that they can make us feel more bloated.

These foods that cause us to swell, are often part of our daily menu, so we can be consuming them, without realizing it, every day of the week, prolonging that heavy feeling.

We give you a list of foods that can generate this sensation. You can start by trying to eliminate one by one, and see if your condition improves when you leave them out of your diet.

The food:

Dairy products and derivatives: can cause gas and bloating, making you more uncomfortable during the day. It does not mean that you should eliminate them altogether, you only have to reduce the consumption of milk, yoghurts, cheeses ... restricting them to once a day. Or simply take lactose-free products and try it this way, if that is what makes you more bloated.

  1. Fatty foods: pre-made, breaded, floured, or fried foods. They can make digestion very heavy and last for hours. So the feeling of being full lasts longer.

  2. Fruits: certain fruits such as apples, pears, plums, figs ... contain soluble fiber, which can produce a sensation of being full and swelling. It is not about avoiding the consumption of fruit, just peel them first to enjoy their flavor and properties.

  3. Vegetables: especially the vegetables of the cabbage family (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower) Artichokes, lettuce, asparagus, cucumbers ... among others, are known for the amount of gas they produce and that they can make you feel uncomfortable during the day. Again, it is not about eliminating them, you should only eat a small amount, or adopt different cooking measures. For example, you can start cooking the cauliflower with a grain of fennel, which will help eliminate these unwanted gases.

  4. Fizzy Drinks: soft drinks, beer or any drink that produces foam, will cause you to produce gas .

  5. Sweets, gummies and chewing gum: may contain sorbitol, a sweetener that can produce gases. But also the drawback is that by chewing gum continuously, makes us  swallow saliva continuously, so it can make you take more air than convenient and therefore produce gas and bloating.
